Massive pile-up on I-10 in Florida injures eight

Residents of St. Augustine may not see much wintery weather. However, heavy rain could occur any time of the year in Florida. Driving in a torrential downpour can be difficult. When one's visibility is reduced, it is important to drive with due care, even if this means driving under the speed limit. Speeding or failing to pay attention to those around you could result in a car accident.

For example, a massive car crash involving 45 vehicles recently occurred on Interstate 10 in Tallahassee. The accident began when a semi-truck swerved to avoid an automobile during a heavy rainstorm. The semi-truck jackknifed, leading to the pile-up. Five semi-trucks were involved in the collision, and eight people suffered injuries. A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in the accident. In total, 18 separate collisions occurred.

Sorting out liability in a multi-vehicle crash can be complicated. For example, say that Car A strikes Car B, causing Car B to strike Car C. Who is responsible for Car C's damages? Is it Car B, since that vehicle struck Car C? Is it Car A, since Car B would not have crashed into Car C if Car A hadn't struck Car B? Or, are both Car A and Car B responsible for Car C's damages?

A person can be seriously injured in a car crash. Paying for the many expenses associated with a car crash can be stressful, especially if one is unable to work due to injures they suffered. In situations like this, accident victims may want to determine if they can pursue legal action, so they can be compensated for the damages they suffered.
